(G)I-DLE Goes All Out with Nxde MV in I love Album, The 5th Mini Album

(G)I-DLE Goes All Out with Nxde MV in I love Album, The 5th Mini Album - The Daebak Company

(G)I-DLE has just made their comeback with their 5th mini-album, I love album. The six-track album comes after their successful first full-length album, I NEVER DIE, which was released last March.

The five-member girl group consisting of members; Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua, made their debut in 2018 under Cube Entertainment with their song 'Latata.' Since then, they have been topping charts and impressing fans with their self-produced music and charismatic stage presence.

(G)I-DLE’s I love Album Tracklist

1. Nxde (I Love 5th Mini Album Title Track)

(G)I-DLE's fifth mini album, I love, starts strong with their title track 'Nxde.' The recently released song has gained widespread attention for sending a powerful message about the sexualization and stereotypes surrounding women, especially within the Kpop industry.

Their music video contains many hints towards Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, who was often reduced to just a pretty face and sexy body during the time she rose to fame.

The song challenges stereotypes that men have placed on women over the years and holds true to the group's message of female empowerment.

The group's music video for 'Nxde' was released on October 17th, 2022 and already boasts over 40 million views and 1.1 million likes.

2. LOVE

‘LOVE’ is a complete shift from the title track ‘Nxde’ with its addictive beat and unique vocals. The track is about finding yourself again after a breakup and realizing how much you love yourself afterward.

The song reflects everything you go through after getting out of a relationship to finally realizing that you are better off without the person who broke your heart, something many people can relate to in their lives.

3. Change

‘Change’ is an addictive song about how even when you feel like you should be on top of the world and you have it all, it isn’t enough, which is a feeling that many idols face during their rise to fame.

This song sends the meaningful message that even though it may look like someone has it all, they may still be unhappy with themselves and feel that they can’t show their pain to the world due to the backlash they’d receive.

The track includes comforting lyrics like, “life has ups and downs, it’s alright,” telling listeners and fans alike that it’s ok not to be ok, which is something that everyone needs to hear once in a while!

4. Reset

This song is OST material. It is the breakup song of the album, and it takes me back to any Disney Channel Original Movie from the early 2000s with its soft vocals and the sad message of someone trying to get over the one they once loved.

This song was composed by Yuqi and written by Soyeon, like many other songs on this album, showing the group's talents in self-producing and songwriting.

'Reset' was meant for Miyeon's recently released solo album, but it sounds perfect with all five members singing it.

This track will certainly make it onto my "sad girl hour" playlist.

5. Sculpture

'Sculpture' is an intricate song about changing oneself to gain the affection of the person you love, but in doing so, you become their 'Sculpture.'

With lyrics like "I think it's easier to lose me than to lose you," the song is diving deeper into what it means to love someone and have them love you back since it is sometimes easier to fit someone else's mold of yourself than it is to be your true, authentic self.

This is a song that many idols can relate to, as many have spoken out about feeling pressured to be someone they are not for the sake of their fans, which is a sad but honest truth that (G)I-DLE is trying to bring light to with this track.

6. DARK (X-file)

DARK (X-file) is the last track on the I love album, with drum-heavy instrumentals that pair perfectly with the ‘DARK’ tone of the song.

Soyeon’s chill rap style and the carefully placed whispers throughout the song give it a chilling effect, proving that (G)I-DLE can nail any genre.

With each track off of (G)I-DLE’s album, I love, the five-member girl group can consistently show that they don’t care what their haters think and will continue to stand up for what they believe in, which is a complete power move for female idols in the Kpop industry.

Here are my rankings of the songs from the I love album:

1. Nxde

2. Reset

3. Change

4. LOVE

5. DARK (X-file)

6. Sculpture
